Even in the frigid mountains of Tibet, an unlikely friendship blossoms between a boy and his dragon.
Story
A wisp of pearl and rose speckles flash through the snow and blizzard. The boy’s eyes widen and he sucks in a breath, frozen solid in his boots as the white flecks dance across his face. The pearlescent creature puffs from its nostrils, sensing the boy’s presence, it lifts its head from its plush dinner. White fur and blood leak from its fangs as it makes eye contact with the petrified boy. As their eyes meet, the creature swiftly returns to its feast and the boy cautiously reaches for his hunting knife. The boy’s eyes dart between the barren snowy hills and the creature outstretched before him, still gnawing at the meat of its main food source, a yeti. A trail of footprints follows behind the boy as he carefully reaches for the yeti’s skin, slowly cutting the precious fur away from the muscle of the once formidable creature. The creature before him, a dragon, he notes, suddenly jolts up with eyes mere inches from the boy’s nearly black eyes. With trembling lips and a sniff of his runny nose the boy reaches a gloved hand outwards, “h-hi, my n-name is Tashi.” The dragon’s tail slowly curls around the child’s fingers and the boy smiles, shaking the dragon’s tail.
